Small business accounting with Intuit Assist AI for categorizing transactions, chasing invoices and explaining cash flow.

AI-native general ledger that auto-categorizes transactions, closes the books and answers finance questions for small companies.

Overview
Digits is an AI-first accounting platform for US small businesses and startups that replaces or sits on top of a traditional ledger. It connects bank, card, payroll and revenue sources such as Stripe and Shopify, then uses machine learning trained on millions of transactions to categorize activity, match receipts and invoices, draft journal entries and flag anomalies. A chat interface answers questions like how much did we spend on contractors last quarter, and dashboards update continuously rather than at month end. The Core plan adds revenue and spend integrations, custom dashboards and dimensional tagging; Pro adds close automation. Accounting firms use the firm plans to run client books with outcome-based pricing, billing only when at least 95% of transactions are handled without manual work. A founder or owner would pilot it by connecting accounts for a 30-day trial alongside the existing bookkeeper and comparing categorization and close speed. Caveat: Digits serves US entities only and is newer than incumbents, so some accountants may prefer to keep QuickBooks as the system of record.
